Performance
The Aton flat plate collector has an aperture area of 2.7m2 and generates a similar amount of energy over the course of a year to a 20 tube evacuated heat pipe system. A two collector Aton system has a massive 5.4 m2 of aperture  area and will outperform  a large 30 tube evacuated  heat  pipe system as shown in the table below (calculated using SAP 2005).

Polycarbonate
The Aton panel is made from one-piece moulded polycarbonate so there are no joints or seals to leak. Polycarbonate is a commonly used architectural glazing material with excellent optical performance and very high strength. It is so strong in fact that it is used to make riot shields and football dugouts. So accidental damage to the panel is very unlikely. It also means the panel is very lightweight. It puts little pressure on the roof and is easy to lift into place.

Roof integration or On Over-Roof Frame
Aton flat plate collectors can be roof integrated, just like a Velux skylight, as shown in the first picture. This method of installing panels is very weather proof as no other roof penetrations are required. As the original tiles are removed it also means that the weight of the roof is actually less than before the panel was installed. This gives a low profile, aesthetically pleasing finish, which can help with planning issues in conservation areas. Or if you prefer we can mount it on a frame over the roof as shown in the second picture. For large installlations including swimming pools we can install arrays of collectors, as shown in the picture opposite.

Simple & Reliable
The beauty of the ATON C2.7 flat plate collector is  it's simplicity. Once installed there is very little to go wrong. No vacuum seals to fail or fragile glass components to break.

Flexibility
The Aton panels can be installed with a pressurised pump station and antifreeze, like most systems on the market. However we recommend the innovative Aton drainback system which requires no antifreeze, has no planned maintenance, prevents summer overheating and can even by run entirely from a small solar electric (PV) panel if preferred.
